Hello, my name is Ondra Watson, I am the founder and owner of Wisdom Within, LLC. My journey into body work has been an interesting one, to say the least. I have learned and experience so much about the human mind, body, and spirit than I could have ever imagined. I am still traveling on this journey, one that I will continue until my days here on earth are complete. This journey is an ever evolving one, where experience and education continue to build.
In 1998 I attended Oregon State University and started my studies in Psychology. In 2000 I transferred to Portland State University and in 2002 I graduated with a BS in Psychology and minored in Sociology. I was thoroughly intrigued with understanding people as individuals as well as understanding people as a group and/or society. I thought I was destined to continue my education in clinical therapy however I found myself wanting to work as a different type of health care provider. It was during my senior year that I was introduced to and participated in midwifery care.
In 2003 I started my academic midwifery training at Birthingway College of Midwifery and received my hands on training/apprenticeship with several midwives in the Portland area. In 2007 I graduated from Birthingway and became a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) and in 2009 I became a Licensed Direct-Entry Midwife (LDM). I continue to practice as a CPM and LDM today. I am also a member of the Oregon Midwifery Council.
In 2011 I decided to expand my skills and started my training in Craniosacral Therapy (CST). Initially I went into learning CST so I could provide this type of work to the babies in my practice to help address the issues I routinely saw in newborns. I quickly realized that I could also provide Craniosacral Therapy to many different people of all ages. While I have been trained in basic Craniosacral Therapy, I have taken specialty classes in Pregnancy, Postpartum, and Infant Craniosacral Therapy, and Craniosacral Therapy using Emotional Release.
Between my work as a midwife and a CST provider, I routinely saw issues in women that involved their pelvic region, specifically the muscular structure of the pelvic bowl. I was introduced to Holistic Pelvic Care™ (HPC) in the very early stages of my midwifery education. Holistic Pelvic Care™ is a specific type of internal pelvic bodywork pioneered by Tami Kent, MSPT, a Portland-based women’s health physical therapist. While I was intrigued by the work, I was not ready to learn this modality. In 2013 I was definitely ready! I wanted to figure out a way to provide CST internally as I felt that this type of work was so desperately needed in many women I was already treating. I studied Holistic Pelvic Care™ with Tami Kent, MSPT and had my mind blown once again by the education and different therapeutic techniques I had learned. I quickly applied HPC techniques and into my bodywork practice and have been amazed at the results I've seen.
I love meeting people and listening to whatever they are willing to share with me. I enjoy immensely being able to teach people about their bodies and to help them to empower themselves. I am truly passionate about my work, and I love working with the people who allow me to be part of their journey as well.
